Death Row Dogs - Rescue places ugently needed PDF Print E-mail

Many thanks to all who helped in the rescue of the previous 9 dogs on death row at a council pound. Of the 9, 7 have gone to rescues or foster care. Only two remain of the original list, Jake and Missy, whose details are in the list below.

Sadly a new week brings new dogs at risk of being put to sleep in council pounds.

Please do all you can to help - foster/forever homes/rescue spaces needed now.

If you can help to save these precious lives please contact Trudie James (Doris Banham rescue) now on 0208 3639634 or 07796015904 or email \n This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

These first dogs are in one Yorkshire pound and have been on 3 destruction lists already. There time was temporarily safe as we managed to find rescue places for others and make some space in the pound. Now the pound wants these older ones out.

MISSY

Staffi cross/Mastif
4-5 Female

Missy is a lovely girl

She was shy at beginning with new people, but after about 4 times of feeding her she bonds very quickly with the pound staff
She shows no aggression towards people at all, she just wants affection.

Missy has been used alot for breeding. She has been over bred, with her pups taken away before she has finished milking.
As a result of this her boobs are saggy and hanging, they will be like this all time.

When she walks past other dogs, she doesn’t seem bothered.
She always gives a waggy tail with the younger pup dogs she sees. Naturally she will want to be maternal towards other younger dogs.
We think she will be better with dogs younger than her, as she is very maternal.

JAKE

Cross breed Greyhound Cross Staffi (we think)
Male 18 months
Brindle

Staff said he is a beautiful looking dog, lovely eyes.

Staff said he isnt a problem, they can put him on a lead and do what you want with him.
He is very exciteable when he gets outside.

When people are being shown round the dogs, he will just sit in his bed.
During the walk rounds we have noticed he doesn’t seem to like kids, he will jump at them at the door.
He sometimes does it with one or two adults,
We think this is because he his nervous with new people, sometimes he just stares at them.
He acts like he needs the security of his kennel staff to say its ok. He is very affectionate and bonded with the staff.

He seems alright with other dogs, when he is in the corridor, he just wags his tail, looks in at their pen, wags his tail and moves on.

These 6 dogs below are in another pound in Yorkshire , on destruction list dated 27/08/08

Descriptions have been given to us by the pound.

LabX

-
LabX

Think would be ok with children as he has a lovely temprement

Staff X

Staff X

We are unsure if she is dog aggressive, not tried her with other dogs, but staff think she would mix with another dog.

Staff feel she would be ok with children as she hasnt shown any aggression whilst in the pound.

She seems a lovely girl looking for her chance of a loving home.

 German Shepherd X

German Shepherd X
6 yrs
Female
Black and Tan medium haired

Staff feel she will mix with other dogs. She is not dog aggressive

She can be rehomed with children as she was previously living in a family with a child age 10 years.

When she is in the kennel she barks at people viewing or walking past, but when out if her kennel
she is fantastic, very freindly towards the staff.

She is very freindly towards all the staff.

Staff X - May have been destroyed

Staff X
Brindle & white
18months
female

Would not mix with a bitch but possibly with a male
Not recommended with children at this time as she needs more socialising.

She is a nervous dog and needs someone to spend time with her on a one to one basis.
She needs someone has can take time with her until she can trust them.

Staff X - May have been destroyed

Staff X

Male
2 - 3 yrs old
black and white

Dog aggressive, will not mix with other dogs

Would possibly rehome with older children, preferably 14+

This dog would be better with older children  preferably no other small animals.

UPDATE!

TOMMY - Tommy has been rehomed

Male Cross breed
2-3 years old

Tommy is very friendly towards people
He is a bit dog aggressive. He is getting better though as he currently isn’t going mad at the dog kennelled next door to him, he musn’t have liked his previous kenneled neighbour!

We keep him in kenneled when feeding and cleaning as he isn't good running about the corridor, he seems to react when other dogs go mad at him. Some of staffis curently in his block are dog aggressive, so this doesn’t help. He would probably be ok if the dogs in his block were calmer.

He is fine when people come to have a look in the kennels, but sadly no-one has ever shown any interest.

This lad has been on the last 3 destruction lists but always managed to be safe, as others were moved on to free the space.
The pound are asking for him to go now as he has been there for 3 months
Please can anyone help this lad with a rescue space

BENSON - Benson has gone to a rescue

Black Male 2yrs old

This fella is a nice dog with a calm temprement
He is a very friendly dog.
For the past 3 months he has been overlooked, maybe because he has scars on his face
We don’t know how he received the cuts on his face.
He isn’t bothered by the other dogs, either side of his kennel or when he runs in the corridor.
He doesn’t seem bothered by dogs or bitches.
Sadly he has been in the pound for about 3 months with no interest. He just sits quietly in his pen as you can see in his picture. He is a very gentle boy..
He must be fed up as he certainly won’t have been out and walked since he arrived.

He has been so patient waiting for his turn bless the little lad.

BELLA - Bellas has gone to a rescue

This little girl is on the pound destruction list dated 16th August

Staffy Jack Russel cross
Female
2 – 3 years old

Bella is a very affectionate little girl, she just wants lots of cuddles with you.
She is very gentle and sweet.

She is ok with the dogs in the kennels next to her, doesn’t seem bothered by them.
We think she will pair up with another dog.

This little girl is on the pound destruction list dated 16th August
can any help her.
