Jasmine's Story In 1995 I returned to England after nine years in South Africa and, as I was intending to stay here for several years, decided to home a dog. I definitely wanted a larger dog that didn't have an appetite to go with its size! After a great deal of thought I decided a Greyhound would be a suitable pet for myself and my son James and set about finding one. I soon discovered my local greyhound breed rescue organisation and phoned the organiser to make enquiries. She explained to me that there are more greyhounds and lurchers in need of re-homing than any other breed of dog and would be delighted to find me one. A couple of days later she came and looked over my house (and me) and once satisfied put me in touch with another branch that had recently saved a tan and white bitch who was about to be destroyed!
She explained that Jasmine had been found tied up with another on the motorway and had been taken to the local pound but had not been claimed. After three weeks she was about to be put down when the breed rescue organisation offered to try and re-home her.

At the first sight of her beautiful face I knew Jasmine was definitely coming home with us. She has been the perfect companion and is loved by the many people that know her. Although I had heard that greyhounds make ideal pets I did not know how very special they are until I had Jasmine. They really are in a class of their own!
